Locals and tourists alike welcome sights of the M/S Mt Washington each day. The historic Lake Winnipesaukee cruise ship sets sail for its 150th season this summer. The M/S Mt Washington hosts proms, weddings, and cruises from ice out until Mid-October.
- "The Lady of the Lake" built in Lakeport in 1849 was the first boat built over 100 feet in length that provided public transportation on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.
- The first ship on the lake named for Mount Washington was wooden side-wheeler the S.S. Mount Washington, launched in 1872.
- The current M/S Mount Washington was originally built with a steam engine in 1940, after the original ship caught fire in 1939. The Weirs Café, Railroad Station, and a seaplane also burned in that fire.
- After the fire a new vessel was found and assembled from the hull of a Lake Champlain vessel called the Chateaugay.
- The M/S Mount Washington stops at Wolfeboro, Alton Bay, Weirs Beach, Meredith and Center. Harbor. The Mount runs from ice out until mid-October.
- The Mount winters in Center Harbor.
